Joseph Owolabi

Joseph Owolabi founded Rubicola Consulting in 2020, the first and only firm in Africa certified by the Climate Bond Initiative to provide verification services for green bond issuances. He previously worked for Deloitte and Price Waterhouse Coopers in Australia, Africa, North America and Europe. From 2014 to 2017, he was the leader in climate change and sustainability services at Ernst & Young in West Africa, where he was the co-organizer, (with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE)) of the Capital Markets Sustainability Conference. It helped Nigeria’s federal government report its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions under the Paris Agreement as well as list the country’s first sovereign green bond – a first for emerging markets (and only the second in the world).
A proven leader in capital markets and accounting consulting in the telecommunications, banking and manufacturing sectors in Australia, Africa and the world, he was involved in the completion of Viva Energy’s $2.69 billion IPO, Australia’s largest.
